Past
Aleksis was born into what many would consider the ideal family. They had the house with the white picket fence and two beautiful children--one of each gender--they seemed to adore more than anything. However, they were not content. They dreamed of more. They wanted fame, and the endless supply of money and attention that came with it. They tried countless things to get their names put upon the map, but nothing seemed to work than they turned their efforts to their children. Aleksis was a disappointment. There was no other way to put it. Sure, they loved him beyond words, but in their eyes he was nothing special---nothing to gain them the fame they were looking for. It probably didn't help that he didn't put any real effort behind these attempts. There was something about being on center stage that unnerved him. His parents never figured this out. They just believed that he was not remarkable enough to gather the endless heap of adoration from the masses.
His younger sister Nilyne was a different story. She was everything that her parents had hoped for. It was clear to anyone whom spend time with Nilyne that the world was her oyster that she merely had to seize. There was nothing beyond her reach. There was a part of Aleksis that was envious of his sister. He knew no matter how hard he tried he would never be measured her equal within their parents eyes, and he feared that if others came to know Nilyne and he that they would come to the same conclusion. That he paled in comparison. They would be right in coming up with that conclusion, but that did not mean it would not hurt. It was the reason why he become so upset when she was moved two grades up to join his class. Something that Nilyne was overjoyed over. She didn't wish to join his grade to prove herself better than him, but rather because she wished to be spend every waking moment with him.
It was this seemingly lack of mean bone towards him that kept Aleksis forming any lasting resentment towards his sister. In fact, in spite this tiny tint of jealously Aleksis and Nilyne were extremely close. He was her biggest champion. The one that stood by her side and cheered her on no matter which path she decided to take. He encouraged her to be true to herself. Nothing more. Nothing less. More than that he was there to support her when life took a turn for the worse. He knew there will be a day when her she might not feel good enough in their parents eyes---it might have already come to pass for all he knew--and he wished for her to know that there was someone whom thought she was perfect. He wished any time she looked into his eyes that she knew how much he believed in her, and there was nothing she couldn't do.
Of course, he shouldn't have worried about such a thing. Even if their parents had failed to see her brilliance the rest of the world wouldn't have. Nilyne was a star that shined too brightly to be ignored. Aleksis was another story, and what he feared from his sister joining his class came to pass. Everyone was constantly comparing the two of them, and Aleksis just gave up. His grades suffered. His social life suffered. He started hanging out with the wrong crowd and getting into trouble. He was a drug dealer by the age of sixteen, and one whom had attention of one of the higher members of the underworld empire--a man named Mikhail. Many considered him second only to the Czar--a man whom is said to be this underworld's empire King. Other say he shares this honor with another. Whatever the case might be, Mikhail took Aleksis underneath his wings and shared many secrets of the trade with him. He soon became more than his mentor, but someone Aleksis had absolute confidence within.
He tried to keep his sister from knowing that he was involved within this underground world. This was easier said than done---given how brilliant Nilyne was, but he somehow managed to do it. Perhaps, Nilyne was just good at acting. Whatever the case, Aleksis did not reveal the truth to her until after his sister tragedy. She much to their parents' disappointment decided to pursue a career in criminal psychology. They did not believe such a career would gather them the fame they so desire, but try as they might they could not deter her from that path. One of her professors brought forth evidence of a recent serial killer by the name of The God Killer. He had thought that his students might give insight that had not been considered before. Nilyne did more than that. She seemed to have figured the killer out, and because of this she was asked to join the team that was hunting The God Killer down. She agreed. Anyone whom knew Nilyne knew that not accepting the offer wasn't an option.
It was a decision that would draw The God Killer's attention towards her, and eventually she was captured by him. Everyone told Aleksis to give up hope of ever seeing his sister alive again, but he did not believe that she was just another one of his victims. Sure, she was a victim of The God Killer there was no doubt of that, but he believed that her capture was different from the other. He believed that The God Killer was enthralled by his sister. Many told him that he was delusional. They told him that he did not wish to accept the truth because it was--understandably---too painful. Not everyone doubted him. Mikhail believed him, and helped Aleksis look for his sister. They eventually found and rescued her. They even played a role in locking him away in prison, but that paled in comparison to the joy Aleksis had over finding his sister alive.
He had no idea exactly what his sister had to endure while she was imprisoned by The God Killer, but it was clear that it had affected her. She might have been fine if she was allowed time to heal, but their parents were not interested in such things. They saw Nilyne's ordeal as a way to gain what they have always craved---fame and all the dressing that came with it. They schedule interview after interview, forcing her to relive every wretched detail of her time within The God Killer's hands until her mind snapped. Guilt flooded Aleksis. He believed he could have stopped this from happening. He should have known his parents cared more about the money than their daughter, but he had deluded himself into believing otherwise. More than that, he saw what the pressure was doing to his sister. He should have fought harder for her. He should have done what he ended up doing a long time ago.
He yelled at his parents, told them what wretched humans beings they had been. He had never been so cruel to anyone and it felt good. He than took his sister away from them, after making it clear that they would never see her again. He knew he would not be able to look after her. He believed she would somehow connect his presence with their parents and this in turn would force her to relive those horrors over and over again. She needed to escape from that nightmare. Her mind needed time to heal. So, he asked Mikhail to look after her. He didn't expect him to agree to it, but that was exactly what he did. He took Nilyne into his home and provided her with a safe haven to heal within. Aleksis knew that his sister would not become better over night. Hell, she might never become better, but he did everything in his power to ensure that she had a fighting chance. That meant ensuring that their paths never crossed. The only contact he allowed himself to have with her was the update progress Mikhail sent his way. He didn't try to spy on her. He knew if he did he would attempt to speak with her, and everything he had done would be for naught.

Present
Time marched on, and his sister appeared to be making progress. She is no where near the person she had been before being abducted, but she is, also, no where near being that broken shell her parents had made her into. Don't be mistake, she is still a broken shell, but every once in awhile the woman she was come glimpsing through. It is all the hope Aleksis needs for him to believe that he is made the right decision. However, it soon become clear that The God Killer was not done with his sister. He was not mortal like everyone believe. He is a literal god, or perhaps he is a being so old and so powerful that man have worship him as a deity. Regardless, it was only his body that was imprisoned. His soul could wander the earth as it saw fit, and his interest turned to Aleksis.
This was not surprising. Aleksis was the brother of a woman he claimed to be one of his wife, and he moved to bring Aleksis underneath his control. Something he thought would be easy, but Aleksis appeared to possess the same unbreakable will that his sister has. A fact that both frustrated and amuses the one the world has dubbed The God Killer. He vows to get Aleksis to submit to him completely while Aleksis vows never to submit to the monster whom had destroyed his sister. It is an endless war and one he sometimes doubts he can win. He wonders if his sister felt this way. That the more this being presses inside his mind the harder it is to deny him what he wants or if in this like everything else she is just better at? It doesn't matter. He sometimes losses the battle. The God Killer gains control over his body, but he always fights his way back. He knows he always will. If he ever gets the feeling he cannot he will take his own life.

Nilyne discovered that The God Killer has Aleksis, and came to rescue her brother. She came to the compound that his followers lived with every intention of breaking him free. He knew he had to get her out, but that was easier said than done. He was not as forceful as he should have been, and while nothing horrible happened to her in that moment the possibility still stands. He allowed the possibility of them to see each other again to open between them. A decision that the God Killer could use to try to reclaim his sister. Yet, he had seen how much his sister had been upset by his absence. He just hopes that his weakness does not cost her in the end.
